Hard copy or digital subscription with National Government as a policy to fund local news for local people. News, business, social notices, births marriages and deaths, local sport is all part of life’s tapestry, now unrecorded with history lost. An excellent example of innovative local news is www.burnham-on-sea.com which admirably serves the people of Burnham-On-Sea and Somerset.
Local news should be funded nationally, otherwise there is a risk such as in Wales, where the Welsh Government can be seen in August of 2023 having spent in the last twelve-months, £800k in one year on public notices (would the Editor of a local newspaper be compromised in reporting any story that may lose that income)?
