It costs £1bn per year to clean up litter in the UK (not counting the volunteers). Litter at every bend, roundabout or blind spot. Fly-tipping on every country lane. You ask yourself “where are the extreme environmentalists and ecologists that are concentrating their time on bats and lizards and not campaigning for a litter-less Great Britain”? We must make the litterers pay and also deal with the fact that smokers are the biggest litterers (and a massive fire hazard). It is my opinion that littering should be made an automatic criminal offence.
